Hi lovelies,

PLEASE say a prayer for me tomorrow as we see the rheumy for the first time since the large steroid into the hip, and I will be told what I am facing with the aggressive erosion of my right hip.

It has been 6 weeks since the steroid and it has helped SO much.

I feel panic rising though as I know deep down that it is masking the true problem. Mark is taking me and working from home t/w afterwards.

Much love,

Amanda

Hi,

Well, my good news is I won't be having my right hip replaced over Christmas! LOL He has told us it is substantially eroding but the replacement is for the future, and of course, no one can be exact regarding this.

Oddly enough after four months (unheard of) reprieve from swollen, huge knees, my right knee swelled up overnight! So he took one look at at and reached for his needles- he aspirated over 20mls and injected with biggie steroid!

Even more strange is he told us he is having his entire RIGHT HIP replaced in two weeks and will not be holding clinics until March so he has kindly referred me to the Consultant should I need some care.

He has severe OA, so when he was preparing my aspirations (I was nervous!) we chatted and I asked what he takes for OA (knowing one cannot take hardcore drugs) and he replies 'Glenfiddich'!! Mark then says 'Amanda takes red wine' and he laughed his head off.

Driving home, M turns to me and says 'you have the perfect rheumy'! LOL Can't think why?!

THANK YOU for your kind thoughts and prayers which I am am ceryain help so deeply,

Amanda

Hi Amanda
Hope that steroid sees u right thru' Christmas and feeling glad for u, replacement plans on hold for a little while xx
Wonder if your knee swelled up like that was linked to worry or sleeping problems before your appointment?
Glad u have a good rheumy and wishing u a very relaxing, restful and pain free evening with a nice BIG glass of red wine! Love Liz xx

Excellent news Amanda. So nice to hear of a human rheummyBigGrin . I think the reassuring thing to know is that you can get back to them straight away if you have any more problems. Hope the steroid works and you have a nice relaxing evening.
